We Believe

We believe in the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is the Creator,Preserver, and the Ruler of Heaven and Earth.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son, was God in flesh revealed and that He came into the world that the world through him should be saved from sin.

We believe that the Holy Spirit reveals God to man and that those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

We believe that the Holy Bible is the authority and inspiration for faith  and practice of the Christian Life.  It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.

We believe that God created man in His own image; therefore, every man possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

We believe the only way of salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died for our sins, and who is able to forgive the sins of all who repent and believe.  Salvation is the deliverance of the individual’s soul from sin when one accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior.

We believe the only ordinances practiced by the church are the baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper.  Both are symbolic, rather than sacramental, in that they do not have the power of salvation.

We believe that baptism by immersion in water is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus; the believer’s own death to sin, spiritual rebirth, and changed life in Christ.

We believe the Church is a congregation of baptized believers in Christ, all of whom are equal in rank and privilege, voluntarily banded together to carry on the work of Christ.  The church is independent, and make its decisions by majority vote (unless otherwise specified by By-Laws) of members with prayer and with guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Bailey Baptist Church has affirmed the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention as our statement of faith.
